A practical one-day workshop covering key principles of Accounting as they relate to Infrastructure Management. This seminar is designed for people involved in any aspect of asset management that do not currently have a financial background. It also looks at the linkages between Asset Management plans, Long Term Plans and Annual Reports.

The Seminar:

A key output of the asset management planning process is financial information which is used by the organisation to forecast both the finances needed to deliver the agreed levels of service and the decline in service potential of the assets used over time. 

In order to produce this financial information, the asset manager needs a good understanding of accounting principles as they relate to asset management. This seminar is designed for people involved in any aspect of asset management that do not currently have a financial background. It also looks at the linkages between Asset Management plans, Long Term Plans and Annual Reports.

The accounting principles is covered in this seminar are applicable to a wide range of assets including transportation, water, waste, storm water and land drainage, energy, telecommunications and a vast range of property types. 

 

 

On completion of the seminar attendees will:

 

  • Understand the relationship between asset management and the finances of the organisation

  • Understand a number of financial terms 

  • Have gained an overview of a number of financial aspects including the legislative requirements, the fixed asset register, financial forecasting and reporting

  • Be able to better understand the requirements of their finance department
